Start with the download source

QClaw is a desktop app controlled from mobile WeChat. Before debugging the QR code, confirm that you started from the current QClaw download page or setup guide. Random cloud-drive packages, old screenshots, and chat group installers make troubleshooting harder because you may not know which version you are running.

If the app looks different from the current setup notes, stop there. Re-check the platform path first: Apple Silicon Mac, Intel Mac, or Windows 10/11.

Refresh the QR code before changing anything else

QClaw WeChat QR codes can expire. If the binding window has been open for a while, close it and generate a new code. Re-scanning an old QR code is a common reason users think the whole binding system is broken.

Use mobile WeChat to scan the fresh QR code. QClaw is not a separate mobile app; WeChat is only the control surface used for scanning and sending commands after binding.

Check whether the desktop app is really online

Binding requires the desktop app to be running and reachable. On macOS, check whether QClaw is still active and whether system permissions or network prompts are waiting. On Windows, check whether security software or firewall prompts appeared behind other windows.

If the computer went to sleep, changed networks, or switched VPN/proxy settings while the QR code was open, restart the binding flow with a new code.

Network, proxy, firewall, and permissions

Binding can fail even when the QR code looks normal. Typical blockers are VPN/proxy changes, corporate Wi-Fi restrictions, firewall prompts, system privacy permissions, or security tools that stop the desktop app from connecting.

A good test is to try a different stable network, restart QClaw, generate a fresh QR code, and scan again. Change one thing at a time so you know which step fixed the problem.

When to reinstall

Reinstall only after simpler checks fail. It makes sense if the app came from an unknown source, the version is clearly outdated, the desktop app cannot start, or permissions became messy after repeated attempts.

After reinstalling, go back through the same sequence: verify platform, open the desktop app, generate a fresh QR code, scan with mobile WeChat, then send a small test command.
